How to maximize your public holidays in 2018

The Long Weekend Season is almost upon us, and you need to start planning if you’re going to make it a #StrongWeekend. If you look at your calendar, you’ll see that from mid-March until the very beginning of May, a few long weekend opportunities allow you to maximise your time away from the daily grind.

Let’s take a closer a look:

If you take off from Human Rights Day on 21 March and return after Easter on 3 April, you’ll be able to enjoy a13-day break, using just six leave days.

And, since the Easter Weekend coincides with school holidays, families should start planning now to take advantage of the period. You could, for example, take just four days leave (3, 4, 5 and 6 April) and gain 10 days for a family break, a romantic getaway, or a fun time with friends away from home.

This year, Freedom Day, 27 April, falls on a Friday and it’s followed by Workers’ Day on Tuesday, 1 May.  So, if one takes leave on only 30 April, a five day strong weekend awaits!

Easter is always a particularly popular time for families to go away, so book accommodation and experiences well in advance to be sure that you secure what your family fancies.

For families from Gauteng or KwaZulu-Natal, a wealth of activities awaits on the KZN coast.  Karridene Beach offers both sea and river adventures, while children can be kept constantly entertained at Umhlanga, with its beach and the huge Gateway Shopping Centre. And if the kids want a break from the beach, uShaka Marine World is well within driving range.

So, get planning for one of the upcoming long weekend periods. After all, we all need some R&R!
