You can get it at the foot of the Drakensberg or the foot of Table Mountain. You can get it at Kimberley’s Groot Gat and at the many smaller but much deeper ones that have given Egoli its name. You can even get it on the Knysna lagoon with a fishing rod in one hand – if you know how to multi-task.

Protea Hotels and African Pride Hotels announced this week that the roll-out of their free wi-fi network in South Africa is complete and that every GUEST will receive data per day on the house (or rather on the hotel) each stay, no matter which of the 90-odd hotels they check into across Mzansi.

The Protea Hospitality Group is the largest in Africa and has hotels spread across South Africa, Zambia, Namibia, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria and Kenya.

Protea Hospitality Group Marketing and Advertising Manager Nicholas Barenblatt said the offering was conceived because modern GUESTS were of the “always on” generation no matter whether they were travelling for business or leisure.

“When we travel we have to be connected, whether it’s to catch up with friends and family or catch up on critical work emails. Both are equally important to GUESTS, which is why we have introduced this value-add across both Protea Hotels and African Pride Hotels in South Africa,” Barenblatt said.

“This free data service ensures the group’s service and brand offering remains at the forefront of hospitality in order to ensure we continue to anticipate, meet and exceed the needs of GUESTS.”
