November 2015: From pilates to zumba, there are so many exercise options out there today that a personal trainer has become just so passé! One workout option fast gaining in popularity is White Collar Boxing, and the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town and the Armoury Boxing Club will be bringing an adrenalin-filled night to Cape Towners looking for a new experience.

The Armoury’s ‘gentleman’s boxing’ regime draws on a long history but its popularity has soared in recent years, bringing in a new, contemporary community of enthusiasts. Unlike the boxing of Rocky and Fight Club fame, White Collar boxing is safe and recreational in its orientation – but it certainly caters to those with an adventurous spirit who want to test their limits, discover just how strong they are, learn new skills and get super fit.

“The Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! brand promise is about doing something different, something cutting-edge,” explains Nicholas Barenblatt, Group Marketing Manager of Protea Hotels, a proud member of Marriott International, the leading global hotel group. “We’re always on the lookout for something new to offer our guests and the local community who support the hotel – entertainment that’ll excite and make people want to come back for more. And the Fight Night we’ll be bringing to Cape Town in February 2016 promises to do just that!

In association with the well-known Woodstock boxing club, The Armoury, the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! will host a night of entertainment involving real boxing matches between guys just like you – they could be colleagues, friends or family – on Saturday, 6 February, next year.

“Knowing what our regular guests enjoy and look for, we expect that there’ll be lots of excitement about this event and we’re sure that the show will be sold out,” Janneman Britz, the hotel’s GM, says. “So, as soon as the 350 tickets go on sale in late November, fans should reserve their places – and avoid being disappointed about missing an experience that’s likely to be the event of the year!”

Tickets will be available from the hotel front desk from 25 November this year, and are priced at R150 each.
